Q Is The Foundation for University a non-profit?
A Yes, The Foundation for University Hospital is a tax-exempt, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
Our IRS identification number 47-1686351. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
Q To whom do I make my check?
A Please make your check payable to The Foundation for University Hospital.
Q Can I make an online donation? And is it secure?
A Yes, you can make a secure online donation. We accept most major credit cards as well as ACH bank transfers. The online donation process takes only a few minutes and it is completely safe and secure.
Q Can you send me a copy of your 501(c)(3) designation letter?
A We would be happy to send you a copy of our 501(c)(3) designation letter. Please email your request to info@uhnjfoundation.org or call 973.972.1873.
Q What is an unrestricted Gift?
A Many donors elect to direct their gifts to the unrestricted fund. Unrestricted gifts are by far the most important to University Hospital because they can be used where needed most. This fund allows your donations to be used to help our patients and healthcare community as quickly as possible.
Q Can I designate my gift for a specific purpose?
A Yes, you can direct your gift to a specific purpose or program at University Hospital. If you are making your gift online, select “Other Area” on the Designation drop-down menu and enter the area you would like to support in the text box. If you are mailing in your gift, please include your designation in an accompanying letter.
Q Can I make a gift in honor or in memory of someone?
A Yes, these are called Tribute Gifts. You can honor a healthcare hero with a donation to My Hospital Hero or place a message in memory of or in honor of someone special on The Eric Munoz, MD Tree of Life in the hospital lobby.
Q Can I make an anonymous gift? What will the Foundation do with my personal information?
A Yes, the Foundation respects your desire to remain an anonymous donor. Your personal information will remain in the strictest confidence.
Q How can I donate through my company’s matching gift program?
A Many companies match charitable gifts made by their employees, retirees and directors. Please consult your company’s human resources department to learn how your workplace matches charitable contributions to hospitals, and how you might be able to increase the value of your individual donation in this way.
Recurring Donations
Q What are the benefits of setting up a recurring gift?
A Spreading your support throughout the year can help with personal budgeting and allow you to support University Hospital in a way that is cost-effective, convenient, and flexible. Recurring gifts are paperless and automatic, meaning that your donations can be used to help our patients and healthcare community as quickly as possible.
Q Once I’ve set up my recurring gift online, how do I make changes such as adjusting my donation amount or updating my credit card number?
A Simply email giving@uhnjfoundation.org or call 973.972.1873 whenever you want to make a change to your recurring gift.
Q Can I stop my recurring gift whenever I want?
A Absolutely. Just email giving@uhnjfoundation.org or call 973.972.1873 to process your cancellation.
Q How will I receive verification of my donations for tax purposes?
A You will receive an automatic e-mail for tax purposes when your donation is processed each month.
Q When will my credit card be charged?
A Your card will be charged for the first time on the day you make your donation and then on the 1st or 16th of every subsequent month. You will have the ability to select which of those days your donation is processed when you set up your gift on the donation form.
